Thermal spraying for protection against corrosion

Thermal spraying is one of the best ways to protect steel structures, piping systems, etc. against corrosion. Unlike other procedures of metal coating (galvanisation, hot-dip galvanizing, etc.), thermal spraying can be done on site.

Variations of thermal spraying we perform:

• flame spraying with zinc, aluminium and other alloys;
• wire arc spraying with zinc, aluminium and other alloys.

A thicker layer of zinc or aluminium provides adequate protection in many corrosive environments.

On the other hand, a thinner coating of zinc or aluminium is suitable:

• as a primer coat in a duplex painting system;
• for corrosion protection at elevated temperatures;
• for corrosion protection with special requirements.

Areas of use of thermal spray coatings:  

• protection against corrosion;
• protection against corrosion at higher temperatures;
• repairs and maintenance of machine and construction elements;
• improvement of surface quality in respect of hardness and abrasion resistance;
• application of conductive coatings on non-conductive materials.

Steel surfaces protected by thermal spray coatings can be exposed to the following:

• weather conditions;
• drinking water;
• industrial water;
• sea water;
• gases.
